While her teen friends were hot on buying the latest fashions and going on trips to Europe, 16 year old Marcia Wampler was going to garage sales, thrift stores and swap meets and continues to be hooked on “thrifting” to this day. She is especially drawn to dishes, Depression glass, milk glass and vintage kitchen items of every kind, all of which can be found in abundance each month in her spot at Room With A Past. She freely admits she has collected hundreds of pieces and has sold enough over the years to fill many houses!
Her beginnings as a consignor came after becoming a breast cancer survivor and crossing paths with one of the shop's long time consignors (at a sale of course!) who told her about the monthly sales at Room with a Past, and she just had to go. The next sale date fell on the same Thursday as her support group but she choose to go to the sale instead (who says shopping isn’t therapy?) and she was hooked. Her huge desire to always be a part of something so fun (it will be two years in September) led her to find her B-L-I-S-S!
“I love everything about Room With A Past, but especially the wonderful women who are a part of this wonderful little space. There is so much joy here. Our little differences are what make the “Room” so unique. I love all the regular customers who come and make it a family atmosphere. It's the one thing I truly look forward to every month after spending 60 hours a week as an Application Specialist. It takes me out of the world of technology and into what I really love. My Passion. My Bliss. The Room!”
