About Us
After being a Sales Director for a cosmetic company for 10 years, then going to school for Interior Design, Susan Goodman worked for several design firms before starting her own staging business in 2000. She soon learned that she loved working with individual clients to help them turn their house into a home by using what they already had and adding a little to it. Being able to use very little money, and a lot creativity to give a big impact for her clients, was what she strived for. She also found that she had a knack for painting murals and added that skill to her services. Her favorite hobby was finding furniture pieces of the "kicked to the curb" variety and giving them new life by painting and then selling them.
Following her heart’s desire to have her own business, Susan purchased the Paris Flea Market (Walnut Creek) in 2006, and took that business to Pleasanton, selling vintage cottage, French country, and shabby chic style furniture and accessories.
Now as owner of Room With A Past, in Walnut Creek, Ca., and Paris Flea Market in Livermore, Ca., painting, staging and the fun of reinventing the shop every month brings her talents, skills and passion full circle. Located off the beaten path in a tucked away warehouse, Room With A Past offers a once a month shopping event that is one Thursday evening, a Friday, a Saturday, & a Sunday each month. The rest of month is spent having fun meeting new people as she hunts down the goods! Then before each opening, Susan and her crew of creative “Roomies” join whimsy and elegance, to create eye-catching and homey vignettes (check out our Photo Gallery page) which display how the mostly one-of-a-kind items can mix into your home, to reflect your own personality and style!
Month after month she stills finds that she loves the great women she works with that help put the shop together. But most of all, she cherishes the wonderful customers who come to see our treasures and us!
We hope you'll stop by one of the sales (or all of them; there are new goodies each month!), say hello, have a good time and find something fabulous that you will love having in your home.
